Language minorities lack of access to health information on the internet contributes to health disparities in our communities. Recent research and development efforts point the way to producing health information Web sites that are appealing and usable for language minorities.

In this session, Silvia Salazar - the manager of cancer.com/en espanol for the National Cancer Institute and an expert in Web site usability testing and design for Latinos - will demonstrate that creating an effective health Web site for language minority users involves much more than just translating from English and changing the ethnic appearances of the images. The CDC RiskSmart(tm) system provides tools and training to enhance (measure, preserve and grow) stakeholder trust and safeguard (monitor, detect, assess, forestall) against threats to stakeholder trust. CDC RiskSmart(tm) training is a 3-hour introduction to these concepts and tools.

Session participants will explore the importance of maintaining personal and institutional credibility for mission success, learn to detect and assess threats to credibility using various tools, and learn the behavior risk points and ways to overcome credibility risks.
