Language minorities lack of access to health information on the internet contributes to health disparities in our communities. Recent research and development efforts point the way to producing health information Web sites that are appealing and usable for language minorities.
In this session, Silvia Salazar - the manager of cancer.com/en espanol for the National Cancer Institute and an expert in Web site usability testing and design for Latinos - will demonstrate that creating an effective health Web site for language minority users involves much more than just translating from English and changing the ethnic appearances of the images.
